It is a story of how Chester deals with his every day part of life, how his life affects the lives of others, and how he ultimately comes to understand that no matter what we do in our lives, every living being has a sense of purpose.'Orphaned and homeless on the streets of Manhattan, a cat named Chester begins a life-changing journey to a small coastal town in Maine where he befriends Patches, a cat abandoned by his father after never returning from a nearby coastal forest in early winter. When a life-threatening blizzard impacts the seacoast, Patches disappears, and Chester searches the forest for his missing friend. When Chester discovers a young artist has sketched a portrait in the forest that reveals the secret of Patches' missing father, he also discovers that an ancient cemetery holds the secret to Patches' father's abandonment. While an evil presence follows his search from within the shadows of the primeval forest, Chester also finds a feral mother cat with her four kittens struggling to survive, unknowingly changing his life forever.
