8 Steps to Overcoming Adversity

Nothing replaces the nurturing role of a good parent. I've always wanted to have something to leave for my kids when I'm no longer around, especially the sound advice needed when adversity strikes, regardless of its severity. True, it can be the small, obstacles which "come in three's" or a major blow that could set you back years.I didn't want to be in the same position with my kids as my dear Dad was. So, I started writing a short list of "must knows" to overcome the day to day struggles that get us off track, drive self-doubt and harmfully steers us away from who we are meant to be for ourselves, but more importantly for others. I don't think we often think about the fact that when we improve ourselves, we also improve others, especially when we share what we learned.Based on personal experience and reading stories about others who have experienced similar setbacks, overcoming everyday adversity is necessary for growth both for the individual, family, and any organization. And the thing is this: everyone faces some sort of adverse force that slowly or quickly presses us down to the ground and seems like it will never let up. In an age when we stress diversity, we need to understand and underscore adversity in parallel. Adversity affects almost everyone-poor, middle class and the rich. It's foundational and personal to one's "story." We can almost say, for many, adversity is a certainty. However, as the amazing human species we are, we can choose to endure and persevere, delivering for ourselves (and our loved ones) an amazing accomplishment that begins with two words:"We overcame ..."I believe if the majority of these 8 Steps are applied, you can overcome your own struggle, grow from it and achieve what you were meant to become: 100%.Chris [email protected]
